Knife sharpening for beginners

The Toolbox presents everything you need to know about sharpening kitchen knives: what tools to use, how sharp is sharp enough and how to conquer forever that most difficult-to-cut fruit, the tomato.

By popular demand, Paul will be presenting a knife sharpening workshop this month. Bring a kitchen knife and learn how to sharpen it - and when to stop. You will hear about the dfiferent methods and tools that you can use as well as tips on the angle at which to sharpen. The session will wrap up with a shared freshly chopped salad. Registration fee includes a diamond sharpening stone.

Members $35
Non-members $60

Second Birthday Open Day

Second Birthday Open Day

To celebrate two years since opening our doors, we’re holding an Open Day on 4th November.

We’ll be offering our normal tool library operations for extended hours on that day but also throwing open our doors for everyone to come and see what we have to offer.

We’ll also have tool demonstrations and expert advice offered throughout the day. If you've been wanting to use a tool but haven't had the confidence, this is the time to try it in a safe and supportive environment. You can also bring your tools from home if you need some guidance on how to use them.'
