For 3 years, the Toolbox has been lending hundreds of items from our base in Watson.
Now, it’s time to grow!
With your help, we can source a vehicle to expand across the region with a mobile service!
This will give more Canberrans access to equipment they only need a few times a year – like lawnmowers, sewing machines, power tools and kayaks.

By purchasing this membership, you're doing more than joining the Toolbox – you’re powering our Tool Bus project. Your support will go directly towards acquiring the van that will carry our extensive collection of tools and equipment to communities across the Canberra region.
Your membership gives you a full year of borrowing, starting from the date of your first loan. Whether you're tackling home projects, honing new skills, or embarking on an adventure, your membership will keep you equipped and ready.
You’ll enjoy the flexibility of borrowing from our Watson base or reserving items for convenient pick-up at one of our Tool Bus pick-up locations.

How does it work?
Supporters purchase an annual membership here. Select your preferred ‘Tool Bus’ option:
Membership for $99: 1 year’s membership
Membership plus a workshop for $150: 1 year’s membership & 1 ticket to workshop of your choice
Membership and workshops for $200: 1 year’s membership & 2 tickets to Toolbox workshops
Membership and a book for $200 (limited to 10): 1 year’s membership, Toolbox tote & signed copy ‘Waste not’ by Erin Rhoads
Membership 2 years for $200: 2 years’ membership & Toolbox apron
Membership 5 years for $500: 5 years’ membership
We will launch the Tool Bus in 2025 and scale it to match demand, available funds and volunteers.
Your membership commences on the date of your first loan (we will manually adjust your renewal date then).
When the Tool Bus launches, members will use our existing online platform to reserve items and nominate the Watson site or pre-determined stop for pickup. Drop off can be at any scheduled location (or the Watson site). Our existing rules and procedures apply. You can find more information by exploring this website.
If you prefer, you can make a tax-deductible donation, which does not give you access to borrowing.
